Wacky Scholarships

Searching for free scholarships and grants for college can be fun when you apply for some of these wacky and weird scholarships. Don’t delay… application deadlines are fast approaching!

Zombie Apocalypse Scholarship - $2,000. Submit an online short written response (250 words or less) for the question: “Imagine that your high school/college has been overrun with Zombies. Your math professor, the cafeteria ladies and even your best friend have all joined the walking dead. Use your brain to flesh out a plan to avoid the Zombies, including where you would hide and the top 5 things you would bring with you to stay alive.”

American Fire Sprinkler Association Scholarship Program – (10) $2,000 scholarships for high school seniors and (5) $1000 “second chance” scholarships for those pursuing college or trade school.

Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest -  $2,000 (1st place), $1,000 (2nd place), $750 (3rd place) and $500 (4th place).

Parapsychology Scholarship -  $1,000. Applicant must be interested in parapsychology and write an essay on a designated topic related to parapsychology.

Short People Scholarships - Award amount typically $250 - $1,000 (2 for undergraduate students and 1 for graduate students). Offered by the Little People of America. Applicants must be 4 feet 10 inches or under to apply. A short essay is required, and three letters of recommendation. Preference is given for those who have a medical condition that causes dwarfism.

Stuck at Prom Duct Tape Scholarship - Award Amount - $5,000 (first place each), $3,000 (second place each), $2,000 (third place each), $500 runners up.  Same prize amount is awarded to the school. Offered by Duck Tape brand duct tape. Use duct tape to create prom outfits and accessories and enter a photograph to the online contest.

Superpower Scholarship - $2,500.  Submit an online short written response (250 words or less) for the question: “Which superhero or villain would you want to change places with for a day and why?”

Tall Clubs International Scholarship – $1,000.  For males 6’2” or taller or females 5’10” or taller.  To qualify, you simply need to write an essay entitled, “What Being Tall Means to Me.”

Twitter Scholarship - $1,400 for winner, $140 for second and third place. Offered by College Scholarships Foundation. Open to current college students. To apply, send a tweet on how Twitter can be used to improve the world.
