The website, H.I.P. Pocket Change (History in Your Pocket) is a government website where kids can learn all about the United States Mint. The site is all about fun and information, especially coin information. According to their website, “It all started in 1997, when President Clinton asked federal agencies to find resources that could "enrich the Internet as a tool for teaching and learning." The result was a pooling of hundreds of free educational treasures that can be accessed by kids, parents and educators.

The “Toons” section of the website takes children through interactive cartoon presentations of the history of money, how money is made, and even what money looks like in other countries.

The “Games” section has games pertaining to adventure, art, puzzles, coin facts, coin collecting, as well as multiplayer games.

The “Coins and Medals” section takes a look at the Presidential $1 coins, commemorative coins, Native American coins, circulating coins, and the story behind Europe’s euro.

The “Coin News” section keeps kids in touch with things going on at the U.S. Mint and the history of various U.S. holidays.

There is a section on “Mint History” where kids can learn about the different mint facilities, as well as a historic highlights in an interactive timeline. There’s also a section for educators.

H.I.P. Pocket Change is a great tool for parents and teachers to help teach kids about the history of money and the U.S. Mint.
